To many, Sloan is one of today's quintessential Canadian bands, as cliche as it might sound. Since their debut EP Peppermintin 1992, the fab four - Halifax natives, now relocated to Toronto - have forged a distinct niche for themselves in the Canadian scene. The outfit includes Jay Ferguson and Patrick Pentland on guitar, Chris Murphy on bass, and Andrew Scott on drums; each have their own unique songwriting voice and style, each contribute equally. Sloan's humble beginnings with the aforementioned EP led them to a signing with David Geffen, where they released Smearedthat same year. Following that album and hailed as "Canada's Nirvana," they took a sharp turn with Twice Removed(1994) and never looked back.

Nothing Lasts Forever Anymore Lyrics

Sloan

I can see the writing on the wall
You hardly see me lately if at all
Well well
It's funny you say that
'Cause I miss you like I never have before
But nothing lasts forever anymore

I wanna know you I wanna trust you
But you get a lot of love from the guys
I wanna show you off but must you
Be easy on the ears and the eyes too?

Don't you know the time is right?
Don't you know the time is right?

It's funny you say that
'Cause I'm standin' here
And what that's standin' for
Is nothing lasts forever anymore

Don't you know the time is right?
Don't you know the time is right?

I believe you mean it when you say
That you have time for me but not today
Well well
It's funny you say that
It may be true but one thing is for sure
Is nothing lasts forever anymore

Don't you know nothing lasts forever anymore?
And nothing lasts forever anymore
Don't you know nothing lasts forever anymore?
And nothing lasts forever anymore

It's funny you say that
